Fall Inspired Little Shop Of Horrors... New Monthly Dare and Challenge Winners

Hello friends! Karla back today for a spooky post! I can't believe it's October already... And with that we are celebrating Fall and Halloween, of course 🍂 This year our challenges are based on musical inspiration, and some of Kim's favourite songs... and well it just wouldn't be Halloween without the Little Shop Of Horrors song! We want to see anything you create that is inspired by the Fall season or even Halloween if you're feeling kinda spooky! Listen to the song below and get creating - then link up at the bottom of the post for a chance to win a cool prize pack!

For this challenge I wanted to create a fun and spooky tag, and since the Hollo Doubt Cling Mount Stamp is one of my favs for Halloween I pulled it out to get started.

I used a tag as my base that I had been playing around with using the fun Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Spray (that you can do the coolest technique with!! - I'll be sharing it on Thursday October 3rd in the Emerald Creek Facebook Live at 10 am MST)  I had layered the Southern Ridge Trading Company Fiber Stencil on the top corner and inked with Distress Oxide Ink. I love how many layers you can get when combining the inks and sprays! I even stamped over top of those layers with the not too spooky Webster the Spider Cling Stamp and embossed using the Black Cherry Aroma Embossing Powder (which smells amazing!).

I did a cool technique that I've been demoing lately - and was inspired by Jennifer McGuire - embossing with Clear Fine Gloss Embossing Powder on metallic cardstock. This was the Tim Holtz Metallic Confections Cardstock, diecut with a Sizzix oval dotted die. You end up with an etched look - super cool! I had also previously used an embossing ink dabber with a stencil to apply some of the new Marshmallow Rock Candy Embossing Powder - you can see it peeking out from under the Boo banner I found in my 'Halloween Stash'.

I wanted to throw a little extra Fall in there, so grabbed the Maple Leaf Cling Mount Stamp and embossed it with Baked Velvet Sedona and Boho Blends Burmese Jade and Saffron before inking with Distress Oxides.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to mark you calendars for the first Facebook Live of October on this Thursday, the 3rd at 10 am MST where I'm going to show you these fun techniques! You can also join our Facebook Group Emerald Creek Creative Inspiration, to share what you've been working on, get creative ideas from crafty friends and keep your eye out for fun giveaways!

  2. Thanks for this fun challenge. I am wondering if a card needs to be spooky Halloween, or can it just be a fall design? Thanks!

    1. Ooops, just re-read the challenge rules and see that it can also be just fall inspired. Off to see what I can make.
