I am up with my Wrapped Journal and I went a route very different to me. For starters, I didn't make it acetate. I love making clear books and pages.

To start I pulled out a lot of my Paper Artsy paints for Seth Apter and then dug around for stamps, dies and stencils.

and then I stared.......

and stared.......

and stared LOL!

It honestly took me 2 days to start.
I needed a reason, and my reason became Sample Books of all of my Emerald Creek embossing powders. I have 174 colours and counting.

I picked up My splatter die and got started. First I thought i could cut into the mat board and then peel out the image leaving a debossed relief. It DIDN'T work, the mat board is insanely stiff and peeled out uneven and awful.

So I picked my paints, Steel Grey, Green Patina, Glacier Ice and Pea Coat (for Tracy Scott).

I just started drizzling, smooshing, spritzing and brushing.

Then I sprinkled Charred Gold over the paint and let it all dry overnight. (partly because I had to move on to other tasks, and because I didn't want to use a heat tool and melt the powder. The next day I added a watered down white wash of Glacier Ice over most of the project. Once it was dry, I started heating to see what the powder would do. ...AND I LOVE the effect.  The gold started bust through the paint. I could control the areas I as melting so I could also maintain a nice gritty texture too.

I cut a die of the splatter and then burnished Patina Oxide into the sticky sookwang side and spot melted only. I added some of the blue and grey ColorBox Blends (man its hard to not type the 'u' in Colour) and then added and blended to fill in voided areas. and finished it off with some Charred Gold embossing powder.

On the inside I used the same colours but I started with Seth's Story Time Stencil and inked in lines and the words - Parts, Time and Story were my fave pieces.

Quick tip, pouring direct to the inside of the cover and using a makeup sponge and Crackle accents added a nice and fast effect.

Then I had an idea to twist the Wire into the word Classic for the book of basic or 'Classic' colours. I was trying to think how best to do it and then I figured if I picked a font and sized it to the spine, then I could trace over the letters with Wire.

Pick this up from Eileen's Etsy Shop. The Twist assist is simple and easy to attach to the table and makes the tool work on any surface

The folds on the spine were flashing bright white so I grabbed by Deco Art Dynasty Brush and painted, pushed and dabbed ink into the creases.

I also decided to treat the wire letters and edges in Midnight Black EP because it looked too unfinished.

Quick tip - Skip embossing ink, just heat metal objects and dip in the powder. You can continue to heat and drip off the excess stuck to the metal until the detail returns.

Then I wanted to add my Business Card to the face, because this will be one of my samples at shows. I had to treat the edges in Gold on the top and bottom and then inking the 2 sides.
Then I brushed the business card with crackle for a perfect worn glossy finish.

And it still needed something so a couple of filigree corners, lightly painted and couple of Black flowers.

I made my insert pages and then stencilling some dots so I could Stamp over the black to show the effect of the embossing powder. I used the Oriental Flowers stamp and Ranger Emboss It dabber to start embossing over the black.

Not all embossing powder can be known how it will melt by looking at the bottle. See Candy Red and Candy Crimson Red. Candy Red will cover a colour and stay true, Crimson Red blends to the background. This will be a really important tip when it comes to the pearls & stones later.

I added the barcoded labels to the back so now it will be a quick reference order book too!

I added a muslin bag to the inside for some samples and used the Steel Grey paint smeared on my mat and then took letters out of Seth's Journal Jargon Stamps From IO.

A few photos of the project at the end.

The Great Outdoors... by Livia

The rules for this challenge: if it has anything to do with outside and it’s your creation, post it. If you incorporate any Emerald Creek product you get a bonus vote!

Hello everyone, Livia here with this months
Theme, "The Great Outdoors"
We were out at my dads for a family
Get together and my daughter in law came to me
And said come, I have to show you something,
On our way I picked up a couple of acorns
Knowing I still have to get my canvas done,
Thought they would look great on the canvas,
To my surprise, right in my dad's back yard was
An old shed with wooden shingles, ❤
Lol, so this months canvas is on a wooden shingle
And I'm excited to share it with you! :)

I used white gesso for the background
And stenciled the images on with modeling paste,
I then colored in the images with an
Embossing pen and my EC embossing powders,
I love it!

I added the EC leaf stamp, (so cute), and embossed
It with Burnt copper leaves, my embellishments
As you can see

Have the two acorns, flowers and a couple
Of the EC Brad's tucked in,
EC supplies use are listed below
Hope ya like it,
😌

The Great Outdoors... by Stephanie

Stephanie

Hi everyone! Stephanie here to share my outdoor themed project with you! I embellished a super cute little bird house with several beautiful Emerald Creek Embossing Powders

I base coated the little wooden house with acrylic paints. While it dried I searched for the perfect shingles for the roof. I tried leaves (they were cute but too delicate) and then came across the perfect lace trim I had in my stash. Next I adhered the trim to the birdhouse and applied some dark brown paint. Finally I embossed the roof with Chic Camo Allure EC embossing powder. It was the perfect mix of green/brown and sparkle!

To complete the project I added Emerald Creek Embossing Powder to the owl, paper flowers, and the sides of the house. The owl has some Ancient Amber Baked Texture around the eye feathers and also on the flower petals. On the wings of the sweet little owl is Salted Raven Enamel.

The sides of the birdhouse have random spots of Verdigris Sparkle Emerald Creek Embossing Powder. I wanted to give the house an aged look...peeled paint of sorts. The colors are gorgeous! Those greens and sparkle 😍

I hope you enjoyed my project this month and don’t forget to join in this months challenge!!!
Until next time... go make something awesome!
