Fall Inspired Little Shop Of Horrors... by Katie

Well it's October, and we are celebrating Fall and Halloween with our challenge this month - Fall Inspired Little Shop Of Horrors. Since we are continuing our year of musical inspiration and sharing songs that are some of Kim's favourites, this month we are inspired by the Little Shop Of Horrors song! We want to see anything you create that is inspired by the Fall season or even Halloween if you're feeling kinda spooky! Listen to the song below and get creating - then link up at the bottom of the post for a chance to win a cool prize pack. We DARE you!

Hello all! I have some spooky ATCs to share for the creepy season!!

I'm using the Baked Velvet Sahara Kit  and Salted Raven Embossing Powders from the Emerald Creek Craft Supplies shop.

Take a make up sponge and dab purple and orange acrylic paint onto blank ATC cards.
Once dry, use embossing ink to stamp a cobweb background onto each card.
Add Salted Raven embossing powder and heat to set.

Stamp out and colour in your Halloween stamps.
Add them to the ATC's using 3D foam pads.

Stamp out some spooky words and use red embossing powder on them to make them glossy.
Finish with a few gems.

It's the most spooktacular time of year! We're in 'shop of horrors' mode at Emerald Creek - so enter if you dare!

I did a trio of ATCs that look ordinary but hold a surprise when it gets dark!  I cut out a tracing of my stamp to use as a mask and mark where I was going to stamp it later. I then put my stencil over the ATC and pressed my embossing pad over it and then embossed with Emerald Creek powders. Then I used the embossing pad on my stamp and used glow in the dark powder!

I love it when it glows! I also went around the edges with the glow in the dark powder to frame them.

I think they're still cool looking in the daylight as well!

Be careful - that's the kiss of death 💋

I mixed the Ocean Spray and Spiced Candy powders to get a purplish tone. And those eyes 💀

Halloween isn't Halloween without a spider or two...🕷️

Hello! It’s autumn again! An amazing time of year to get inspired! I love all of the colors, smells, and tastes of fall. My embossed pine cone project was inspired by the season.

Step One
Rub tips of Pinecone with embossing ink.

Step Two
Sprinkle pinecone with embossing powder and heat.

This project was created in two easy steps. Any Emerald Creek embossing powder can be used for this project. Embossed pinecones can be added or used for a centerpiece, wreath, garland, or hanging ornament.

I hope you will give this project a go. Enjoy and happy Crafting!

Well it's October, and we are celebrating Fall and Halloween with our challenge this month - Fall Inspired Little Shop Of Horrors. If there is one month I associate with the fall season, it has to be October. Where I live, this month offers witness to the glory of mother nature by means of an autumnal show of stunning color. We watch as the leaves turn gorgeous shades of golden yellow, bronze, and red, before they are shed in preparation for a winter's lull. As I appreciate all the wonder that is presented to me, it gives me a wonderful opportunity to really give thanks for all that I have. This is the inspiration behind my gratitude journal for the Emerald Creek Dares Challenge this month.

I begin by stamping the Emerald Creek Oak Tree Stamp with Archival ink onto watercolor paper that has been colored with a wash of Distress ink. Using a stamping platform, it is easy to re-stamp the upper portion of the tree with VersaMark embossing ink.

I sprinkle embossing powders over the leafed section of the tree in a random pattern. I use Turkish BronzeTaos Sunset, and Burnt Copper Leaves powders; each of which is absolutely beautiful on its own; however, I thought by using a blend of powders, I could achieve the variation that is so typically seen in nature. Once the embossing has cooled, I color the stamped and embossed image of the tree with distress inks. I also stamp the word "grateful" along the top edge. This panel becomes the cover of my gratitude journal. Using my Xyron creative station lite, I add adhesive to the back of the panel, and attach it to the notebook die cut.

More of the inked watercolor paper is used to create the interior panels for the journal. These pieces are cut to size and then stamped with decaying leaf images with embossing ink. These leaves are coated with Burnt Copper Leaves embossing powder and heat set. When the embossing has cooled, these panels are attached to the interior of the book.

I run my embossing pad along the sides and bottom of the front cover then add more of the Burnt Copper Leaves Embossing powder and heat set. This creates a wonderful finished edge that coordinates with both the inside and out.

The back of the gratitude journal is covered in a faux wood paper created using a 3D embossing folder and inks to create a realistic looking (and feeling) panel. Another section of this faux wood runs along the top spine of the journal.

Paper twine is strung between two eyelets to secure the signature inside. I want the signatures to be removable so that each year I can complete a new month of entries and keep the old ones to look over and know just how filled with blessings my life is.

One thing I know I am grateful for is all of you, my followers, I appreciate you taking the time to stop by the blog and for all of your wonderful comments.

I hope that you are able to find time this fall to soak in some of the beauty that nature has to offer.
If you have the opportunity to create something fall/Halloween inspired, please consider joining this month's challenge at Emerald Creek Dares, you can link your project here or use the hashtag #ECOCT2019.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.

Sara

Hello! I don't know about you, but Fall is my absolute favorite season! So many gorgeous, inspiring, warm colors! Beautiful for pictures and craft projects. For this month's project, I created two cards highlighting some of the beautiful fall colors you can achieve with Emerald Creek embossing powders!

For one color palette, I went with the beautiful oranges, reds, and golds of fall.

After embossing some Tim Holtz leaf stamps, I ink blended over top with Distress Oxides and added sequins and a pop of gold mirror cardstick to achieve the warm, golden tones I was after.

Embossing Powders Used-

For my second card, I went with a calmer, more neutral color palette...still with the pop of gold with the mirror cardstock.

Embossing Powder Used-

I hope you will take some time this fall to enjoy the beauty of fall and then bring some of those colors into your craft projects!

Have A Lovely Day!
