Summer In The City... by Preeti

Hello friends! We are back today with the last post for our Summer In The City June theme. This year we are focusing our challenges around music, and this one was one of Kim's dad's favourite songs. He loved playing 'Name the Band' and 'Name the Year' song games as their family headed out in the station wagon with the 8 track. **You still have a couple more days to get your projects linked up!!

Our June Dare is to challenge you to create anything dedicated to the SUMMER! Click the link below to listen to this awesome song.

Hi friends :) Preeti Datta (Dutt Preety) here. I'm happy & excited to be on the Emerald Creek Craft Supplies DT.

The theme for the June Challenge is "Summer in the City". It's really fun! You can interpret it however you like! There are still a few days left to participate, so please do join the challenge to win beautiful prizes!

For me, summer is the time for holidays, vacations, sunshine & cool fruity drinks. One happy memory from my childhood is that my mum used to make pineapple stews during summer and all of us used to love it! I've tried to capture that beautiful memory in my project :)

Today, I've created a Cute Greeting Card- "Hello Sunshine" dedicated to the summer season. There is a step-by-step pictorial of the process as well :)

Process:

Step 1: First, create the background by cutting a watercolour paper panel. Then, using bright & warm colours of distress inks & oxides, add colour to the background. Use the "ink smooshing technique" to dab ink onto the mat, spray with water & smoosh the paper onto it to get a splattery, inky, artsy and organic look. Dry between each layer & add colours till you are happy with the background.

Step 2: Die cut some pineapples & goggles from thick white cardstock

Step 3: Heat Emboss the pineapples with the beautiful embossing powders from the Baked Velvet- Sahara Kit. (Ink the die cuts with embossing ink, sprinkle the die cuts with the powders & heat emboss using a heat tool). I've embossed the pineapple base & the intricate top layer in different colours, to make the colours pop. Then heat emboss the goggles with the Aroma-Just Java embossing powder.

Step 4: Stamp "Hello Sunshine" onto the inky panel using a black ink. Then assemble & adhere the elements together. Use vellum behind the die cuts to make them stand out against the busy background. Use a strong glue and 3D foam tape to pop up the elements & panels (for extra dimension & interest)

Step 5: To embellish the card use adhesive gems

Step 6: In the end, adhere the panel to a neutral coloured card base.

Thanks a lot for your precious time :)
Stay Blessed!
