Flowers On The Wall... New Monthly Dare and Challenge Winners!

Hello friends! Karla here today to announce this month's theme - Flowers On The Wall. This year we are focusing our challenges on some of Kim's favourite songs, and this month that song is Flowers On The Wall by the Statler Brothers.

Our May Dare is to challenge you to create a project that is inspired by flowers! Click the link below to listen to this awesome song.

Flowers On The Wall

I definitely have no problem finding a way to use flowers on a project, so this was a fun challenge to take. I grabbed some of Eileen Hull's new Molten Dimension embossing powders and they did not disappoint!! The Aqua Splash might be my newest favourite colour 💙 You can check out exactly how I created this beautiful tag in the tutorial below - and be sure to scroll all the way down to find a list of linked supplies and our amazing winner from last month's Dare!

1. I created a background with Ranger Pearl and regular Alcohol Inks on Yupo. When the inks were almost dry I applied some Ranger Foil and then embossed the whole background with a Sizzix 3D Lumber Embossing Folder by Tim Holtz.

2. I embossed a Dylusions stitch stamp with Eileen Hull's new Molten Dimension Black Magic. This powder is a lovely thick chunky powder. I knew I wasn't going to get a detailed look, but I wanted that! I then brushed Distress Oxide Inks around the edge of a manilla tag, adding a few water droplets to react with the ink.

3. Next, I stamped the Emerald Creek Lily Cling stamp on bristol cardstock with Glacier White Embossing Powder. This is a great powder for any detail stamping and embossing you want to do! I watercoloured the image with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a waterbrush and then fussy cut it out. I coated it with Eileen Hull's Glistening Glass powder to create a water droplet effect which also softened the white lines of the embossing powder beneath it. I love how this turned out!

4. I coloured the Floral Spray Charm with Alcohol Pearl Inks, adding a tiny drop on each flower and using a tissue to spread it around lightly. I love being able to customize these gorgeous charms!

5. I took a piece of Little Birdie Crafts chipboard lattice from my stash and coated it with two coats of Eileen Hull's Golden Rod powder. Because this is a thick powder, and I didn't want the chunks to fly off, I used a piece of parchment paper over top and heated through it using my new Wagner Heat Gun. Let me tell you, this gun is fabulous!! As it melted I sprinkled in a bit of the Molten Dimension Aqua Splash and Black Magic. I also added some of Gwen Lafleur's new Crystal Embers Boho Bits into the hot powder before it cooled. These amazing tiny gems add so much punch to a project! I also diecut out a Hello word from cardstock and added a coat of Black Magic embossing powder to give it a dimensional glossy look. I am really excited at how this turned out!

6. I used Ranger Multi Matte Medium to add the gorgeous Gwen Lafleur Pealized Mica Flakes to the bottom of the tag, layering the hello diecut over top. This matte medium is perfect for holding anything that needs a little extra adhesive.

I am so happy with how this tag turned out! I love trying out different techniques and pulling them all together. The embossing powders just bring everything to the next level.

Here are a couple closeups. I will definitely be using the stamping and embossing technique here again. I love the way the Glistening Glass powder covered the image!

Those shiny Mica Flakes are one of my favourite new embellishments!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you're inspired to check out some of these fun supplies and create something wonderful too!
