The Great Outdoors - #27 to 40

It’s fitting that this post comes just as I leave for the annual family camping reunion.

A shot of me & Duncan at the river.

The rules for this challenge: if it has anything to do with outside and it’s your creation, post it. If you incorporate any Emerald Creek product you get a bonus vote!

To kick it off I am featuring Fairy Wings EP by Rita Barakat.

To start, I trifolded a piece of Stampin Up Cardstock and made an angle cut. Then I cut a random piece of printed Velum and scrapbook paper as well as the Emerald Creek Arctic White Cardstock and mounted them.  (A tip for velum it just to tack dots of Glossy Accents into the 4 corners for a minimal visual eyesore)

Then I added an Emerald Creek exclusive dragonfly brad in the upper corner. (Note: we are just revising the set before the new ones are back in stock. This will be by Creativation)

Then I grabbed some Southern Ridge Trading Co chipboard.

The Flower Fairy and Leafy Branches were a perfect fit.

To prime my fairy, I grabbed my Eileen Hull Colorbox Blend in Coconut. (mmmm now I’m hungry for a roasted coconut donut).

Now for those who don’t know, the #1 non EC embossing tool I use is the Emboss It Dabber from Ranger. It’s a really nice sticky ink but cleans up easily and can really adhere the chunkier powders I sell and promote.

I used this to ink an unprimed piece of chipboard and applied the St Paddy’s Day EP to the Leafy Branch then melted it.

Next, I the Dabber on the wings before I dumped the Fairy Wing Base EP on , then tipped off the excess (not tapped). Heat until melted. Then I opened the 4 colours (I didn’t feel that I wanted gold this go around) and placed them across the work mat. Then I reheated the wings with my heat tool for 5-10 seconds. Then added pinches of the colour to wings. Because the base is thick it stays melted longer and allows all of the colours to melt and blend in on contact. (I will do a video of this)

I then inked the fairy body and used the Soft Fallen Snow EP. this is the melted finish. It’s meant to be grainy and textures with shimmer like snow.

Finally I used the Dabber to ink the rose and then added Forest Foliage EP to the leaves and stem and Candy Crimson Red EP (2 coats) to the rose.

To finish it off I used Sticky Dots (an industrial brand I use for packaging charms) to stick this all together for my niece’s 1st Birthday. Happy Birthday Finley, Auntie loves you sooo much!
